Meet Girl. A bubbly sexy Maori lass from the sticks of New Zealand. Meet Dad. Ex British Army Officer.
Their love affair lasts for 47 years and Dad can't build up the courage to tell
her the truth about his turbulent war history. He is not what he appears to
be. His and Her affairs indicate the influences that dictate their lives. But they
belong together until death us do part. Set largely in Wellington, New Zealand, the tale is told by both sides from a subjective point of view. The guilt of their wrong doing moderates the evils of sin to the extend they combine forces to defeat the common enemy. Boredom, the kids and Girl's sexually demanding older sister. |
This novel is written for the mind that seeks stimulus. See if you can follow the
clues and interpret the story. It requires concentration and a retentative memory.
A bitter-sweet tale of a mixed marriage in a society that confuses black and
white and the resulting cultural differences. Not for the squemish or the politically
correct. |

Fiona Hunter of Auckland, NZ writes: I'm not really a person that reads but I found The Lemon Tree most stimulating and more than enough to keep me totally glued. It is very easy, pleasurable reading displaying an excellent sense of humour in true Kiwi style. Hot and steamy, naughty and nice, kept me reading until the early hours. I can only express that at the end of the last page I felt dismay at what happened. In fact I had to re-read the last paragraph to ensure what I read was correct. All I could say was, WOW! When I read the epilogue it made the story come to reality and fitted the pieces of the puzzle together. I thoroughly recomend this book as excellent reading with a first class twist and punch at the end. I look forward to reading more from this author. |

A surperbly presented, beautifully crafted hardcover with dust jacket. A real collectors
item. |
Pentland Press are in liquidation. It would appear they forgot about the marketing side of publishing.
The Lemon Tree is available from Carnegie Publishing in the UK. Don't delay as I understand this edition is almost sold out. |
From now on I'll keep an eye on my publishers. |
