" I'm innocent I tell you." I don't smoke and have never been in jail. However, just
because I'm a self-righteous citizen, it doesn't mean that I have to agree
with everything the politicians waffle on about. Let's face it, most politicians
are below average intellect, or they wouldn't be wasting their time in an occupation
in which they will inevitably wind up as total failures (1960-70's Enoch
Powell). But try demonstrating or explaining reality and they will sneer and
arrogantly promote their personal ignorance as superior intelligence and perhaps
offer a credit card in placation. But we all know better than to agree with them,
now don't we? The recently announced proclamation that NZ jails will be smoke free in a year was the height of political stupidity. It is also the height of stupidity for those who are sensible enough to have no desire to be politicians. But playing with words won't change anything. The anti smoking group ASH (always susceptible hotheads) leapt to the fore with a number of quotes dreamed up by their self confessed "experts" suffering from, "we'll cite anything you like as long as we get paid." "Jails will be cleaner and prisoners will thank the authorities for extending their lifespan and enabling them to spend their three strikes and you're out sentences, in a smoke-free environment." (bullshit) "Prisoners will bend over backwards to be seen to be assisting management to maintain their smoke-free lifestyle." (more bullshit) In reality, prisoners who take the same notice of politicians, as the politicians take of the prisoners, will use nonstop violence to keep smoking everything from pot to dried seaweed. They simply don't give a shit about anything except their own wishes, and quite frankly if I were in the can serving what I considered an unjust sentence, I'd probably think the same. Most of us would, now wouldn't we? Or are you completely stupid? If you think the anti smoking legislation works, dream on. Have you noticed that bars are a lot more violent than they used to be before the anti commonsense laws were introduced? Have you noticed the massive increase in so called anti social boy racers? Have you noticed that new bars and restaurants only last about 19 months before they go broke? Have you noticed how senseless crimes are increasing and that the police are unable to cope? Have you noticed that hospitals are still unable to supply the health needs of the citizens despite the alleged downturn in smoking related diseases? Did you know that soldiers at war were given cigarettes to calm their nerves? The truth is simple. Smoking may or may not cause health problems, it depends entirely on the genes you inherit. But most smokers live a normal lifespan and like the vehement anti smoker, will drop dead when their heart finally stops after years of crippling taxation. Naturally there will be exceptions but that's the will of Mother Nature and the effect of greed-based taxes. In the last one hundred years alone, politics and religion have killed more people than a thousand years of smoking ever will. So if you want to save mankind, ignore all politicians and religions. Then you can spend the rest of your life smoking or not smoking, the choice is yours and personal choice is the basis of democracy. Ps have you noticed that New Zealand is no longer a democracy? |
