"They say silence is golden and so is commonsense."
Broughton New Zealand, the mini Land of Hope and Glory, has the potential to go down the tube of social disaster. The centre left Labour Coalition Government is living up to its socialist ideals and introducing endless socially repressive legislation with the idea that if more people are dependent on state handouts, so much the better for Labour. Logically the people will vote for them on the assumption they can't live without handouts. They might well be correct, but after nearly seven years of over-government, even the lowest of the low are beginning to realise that personal initiative costs nothing. Getting off one's backside has its own feel good rewards and shows there is a dim light at the end of the tunnel of socialistic dictatorship. Recently three month old Maori twins were murdered and several politicians jumped up and down and declared the family should come forward and name the guilty. Rather than leave the investigation to the highly competent police, they demanded answers forthwith, if not sooner. Naturally the family were advised to keep their mouths shut and let the police do their job on the basis than not only was silence golden, it was also legal. Obviously the publicity was designed to enhance political reputations and to hell with the family that were conveniently and most despicably declared dole bludgers. Not that they had a choice. Many Maori are family oriented and find raising families on the dole, more financially viable than low paid dead-end part-time employment. If they run out of money for drugs, booze and gambling, the simple answer is to have another kid to get more money from the state. Undesirable vices are the only relief from the day to day grind of the welfare world. Who can blame them for taking advantage of the system that goes out of its way to destroy their Maori culture and family values? The family concerned lived in a state-owned house and survive on handouts. They have little or no future and have sunk to the pits of despair. They only thing they have going for them is hope, but even that has been destroyed by political interference from those who should know better. With the time lag involved you can bet your boots that police will find most of the incriminating evidence has been conveniently destroyed. Perhaps not intentionally, but inevitably! Maori are one of the most intelligent native races on Earth and still resent the invasion of the Whiteman from the late 1700's. Oppressed people always harbour resentment against their supposed masters. The Afro Americans in the US are the classic example. No doubt the politicians will sacrifice the family in the name of "justice" and as a lesson to others in similar circumstances. The ever increasing power of the state is all that matters and the death of the twins will be used as an excuse to clamp down on beneficiaries in general. How dare the peasants demand money and then spend it on booze and drugs, will be their inevitable thinking? Thousand more unnecessary civil servants will be hired to dictate how the dole money will be spent and further depress the lifes of those unfortunate enough to depend on welfare. In any society there will always be human failures but it doesn't pay to dictate the same conditions to everybody. Understanding the causes of the French, American and Russian revolutions might suggest the inescapable? Too much power and political greed is always disastrous for those deliberately set upon to finance the glory of political aspirations. Never mind that all political careers end with failure. It's "now" that counts. The common people and their future are irrelevant "The most arrogant people in the world are those who are ignorant." Broughton |
