The South Pacific oasis called New Zealand is facing challenging times. The
clean, green image is more or less true but the actions of 'we control everything because we know best" politicians, are testing the viability of living and working in NZ. The credibility
of officialdom is waning in favour of "think as you're told or get locked up" syndrom, and is causing almost a 1000 people a week to head offshore in search of
a more equitable lifestyle. NZ has more rules and regulations than Hitler needed to con the highly educated German public in the 1930s, and the systematic corruption of commonsense, honesty and decency go unnoticed by the majority of NZ people. The old Tacitus comment, " the more corrupt the state, the more numerous the rules," is most appropriate. My own point of view is: "there's nothing new under the sun except tomorrow." Like Germany and numerous other nations over thousands of years, disaster is promoted only by those who benefit short term. Short term means those who lack the vision to see past the end of their nose. Long term visionaries are those moving offshore in droves. This sort of thing has happened many times in the history of mankind. When one door shuts, another opens? Getting kicked in the guts by the arrogance of authority is sad but encourages active minds to foretell the future by understanding the past. When the past has proved disastrous, why bother reliving it again? NZ politicians are following the footsteps of Joseph Goebbels ( Hitler's propaganda Minister) "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State." Try looking in the NZ media for evidence of officialdom persecuting private individuals. Need I say more? But let us look on the bright side of darkness. NZ is a beautiful and under populated country. A little more than four million people and losing 50,000 of her most talented every year can only mean economic disaster in the future. The highest interest rate in the developed world is driving business and brainpower to do a John Wayne and ride off into the sunset of overseas opportunity. Interest rates are raised to control inflation caused solely by excessive government spending on itself. Politicians and the aggrandizing number of bureaucrats are a drain on the economy, and personal credit card-financed spending, obesity and personal debt are becoming astronomical. Banks and other lenders are experts when it comes to catering for human greed, for they are but human greed personified. Twisting the truth does not alter the reality of self interest. Politicians and bureaucrats will never understand Albert Eienstein's philosophies. Eg. "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." "In order to form an immaculate member of a flock of sheep one must, above all, be a sheep." Baaaa! Welcome to sliding backwards wooly headed New Zealand. There are many reasons NZ is no longer viable. Many seem minor and not worth the bother. But when you add them all together, logic dictates the inevitable. Wages are about 85% behind inflation, taxes are one of the highest in the world and there are thousands of socially destructive rules attempting to control every aspect of human nature. Mindless bureaucracy is crippling initiative and the lack of discipline in schools are creating teenage terrorists bent on destroying the known world. The hospital system is in crisis with nurses and doctors flocking to Australia where they can earn twice the salary. The intelligent level of police recruits is dropping and just about every fifth teacher is assaulted by pupils. Violent child abuse is resulting in one of the highest death rates in the world. The indigenous Maori race is blamed for just about everything that could possibly go wrong and those on welfare benefits are regarded as substandard human beings to be treated with contempt. The education system has slid backwards with every aspect controlled by bureaucrats whose sole interests is their own careers. The kids aren't allowed to think for themselves because they might wake up to their lack of productive future. Their minds are being deliberately destroyed by a system that demands total compliance. Maybe the kids aren't as stupid as the "experts" would like to think, because electronic text invitations to street parties usually wind up with violent confrontations with the police. This shows the kids don't agree always with the authorities. Well done boys and girls. Stand tall and be proud of your independence. NZ has followed the USA and now has the second highest number of jailbirds in the world. Also note the following: The Pythagorean Theorem consists of 24 words The Lord's Prayer consists of 66 words Archimedes' Principle consists of 67 words The 10 Commandments consists of 179 words The Gettysburg Address consists of 286 words The Declaration of Independence consists of 1300 words The U.S. government regulations on the sale of cabbage consists of 26,911 words. I wonder how many words NZ law uses to stop garden centres trading on Good Friday and Easter Sunday? What about the anti-smoking laws and thou shalt not drink beer in the CBD? Thomas Paine summarized in 1791 "The duty of a patriot is to protect his country from the government. It has become the only source of terrorism that we have need to think about." This is more than obvious to those with the ability to think ahead. It is possible that most politicians stand for public office because they believe in NZ's future. But with party loyalty and the MMP (Muddled Minds Predominating) political system in force, it's either vote the way the party demands or piss off. There's no such thing as one man one honest vote in NZ. If the system were democratic, every proposed piece of legislation would be decided by a conscience vote. But that rarely happens. Party loyalty comes before commonsense, honesty or decency. NZ politicians regard themselves as too superior to rely upon their ability. Broughton Once upon a time I was a human being. But the government changed the rules: now I'm only a number. Broughton As I wrote at the start of this essay: there's nothing new under the sun except the tomorrow that never comes. |
To be viable, or not to be viable. Is that the Question? Nothing is so disastrous to man as politics. But the real killer is ideology. |
