Political Honesty?

If you think politicians are honest 100% of the time..... you're an idiot. They mumble that they never speak an untrue word but when reality catches up, you'll find that truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, is nought but a dying species. Perhaps a little demonstration might be in order. Let's just suppose I'm a beneficiary receiving x amount per week. Much to my surprise I find that WINZ has cheated by not telling me just what my legal entitlements are, or they have deliberately misinterpreted the rules to reduce the amount paid. This is basically theft in my books but politicians see things differently. As truth is inconvenient to their point of view, they prattle on how efficient the system is and that it's all a misunderstanding because of something the previous government did. The truth will never by hinted at in any form or manner. If I stand up on my hind legs and publically accuse the politicians of running corrupt government departments, all hell breaks loose and the political presumptions and actions that are thousands of years old, come into play.      Low and behold, the Dishonourable Minister of Face Saving uses his arrogant authority to cover his butt by accusing me of being a bludging liar. He makes public my private information knowing full well that the bulk of the public are dumb enough to believe I'm a prevaricator and the politician is an outstanding honourable person whose word can be trusted.  In reality, the politicians first action is to try and discredit anybody that accuses them of being somewhat less than honourable. The politicians have their reputation to consider and the little man isn't important in the scheme of things. Never mind that the little man can't fight back and the bureaucrats won't do anything because they're acting under political instructions. The politicians don't accept responsibility for their actions and the public couldn't care less because it doesn't affect them. Yet all the little man has done, is state the obvious. The politicians may consider themselves as honourable people, but the small number of thinkers in society are able to tell the difference. Have you ever wondered why governments get dumped and politicians get voted out of office? Perhaps it's when their lies become so obvious, that the inevitable happen and the Jackass Mentality achieves a flash of inspiration as to the reality of the politician's intentions. One can't help but wonder if the expenses claimed by politicians are honest, or merely another form of deliberate self-serving fabrications? Think about it.
