The Wooly Mammoth

"Sometimes, the lines between illusion, reality and self-deceit, are blurred."  Broughton Scientists have discovered some excellent DNA from a million-year-old mammoth and there is a possibility that Mammoth ver 2 will be resurrected in the near future. Wooly elephants with buck teeth trotting up and down Rodeo Drive is exactly what California needs to keep Arnie the Terminator amused.  I'm sure he will find guardianship of one most dehumanizing.  But I don't like Sarah Connor's chances of avoiding a confrontation between good and evil.  Maybe New Zealand's Peter Jackson will produce the resulting animated epic?  Arnie seems quite good at self animation. Personally I would rather see the scientists reinvent the Honest Man.  Sadly, he has been made redundant in man's race for self destruction.  Honesty, decency and commonsense have been forced out of existence for political rationalization.  The inbuilt modesty of honesty is regarded as politically incorrect and thus undesirable in our politically correct world of lying and cheating for personal gain. Here in upside-down, at the bottom of the world New Zealand, we have the emergence of an American style society.  Government by government for government.  The private citizen is treated like shit and if he disagrees with the latest political edict, he's regarded as a terrorist and hounded by the authorities.  Terrorism is merely the latest scare tactic used to control the unthinking person.  Hitler used Jews, homosexuals and gypsies to underscore his political motives.  If you want political power, invent a non existent enemy and use the aggressive power of the state to oppress the commonsense of honesty and decency.  Works every time but only for a while.  History dictates that war or revolution is the inevitable result.  However, politicians are not known for the brainpower.  Otherwise, they wouldn't be politicians.  Thus, they can't see past the end of their publically funded noses and imagine their dreams of changing the world to their way of thinking, is justifiable no matter the circumstances.  To hell with the needs of the taxed to death, peasants.  They simply don't count in the scheme of things.  Laws against minorities are designed to gain political approval from the bulk of the non thinking population known as the Jackass Mentality.  The current world trend of banning smoking in public places is a typical example.  Let's be honest, politicians and religion have caused more deaths in the last hundred years than a million years of smoking ever will.  But once again, reality is ignored for political power over others. Wouldn't it be nice if people were allowed to be human beings and live their lives based on commonsense, honesty and decency?  Isn't that what the Christmas Spirit is all about?  Peace on earth and goodwill to all men.  But in today's tenuous world, Muslims and smokers are now terrorists as defined by those who can't tell the difference between either.  Perhaps in the years to come, man will be redefined as wooly mammoths and treated with respect. But those with power should remember that 99.9% of all species that have inhabited this planet, are extinct and will remain extinct.  No existing species apart from man, lives on credit cards he can't repay.  There's not a great deal of hope for mankind, is there? Have a good Christmas until your credit runs out.  Then your credit rating might well be regarded as extinct as the wooly mammoth.  Peace on earth without money?  Whatever happened to political commonsense, honesty and decency?
