King Kong's New York City
And it came to pass that Peter Jackson's remake of King Kong was filmed in New Zealand. The New York City scenes was filmed on a piece of vacant industrial land in Seaview Road, Gracefield, Wellington. The set was carefully constucted and became a tourist attraction. Unfortunately, the set was demolished when shooting finished. Now it's a storage area for new motor vehicles.  Well over a thousand cars worth about $50 million.  So if you've seen the movie, this is what you are actually seeing. Use your imagination. King Kong is hiding behind the red car 325th from the left.
