I write, publish, print and distribute my own books. This enables me to produce a
quality product at reasonable price to the reader. It upsets the tradition publishers
a little. However NZ is rather short of fiction publishers because the
population is so small, the economics of bulk production is dubious. My book
covers are beautiful black and white with just the odd dash of colour for some
titles. The old saying, that you shouldn't judge a book by its colour is appropriate.
We all remember the story, not the cover. And I can make more money from 500 copies than I could for 5,000 via traditional publishers. So what would you do? |
