"History repeats itself and that's one thing that's wrong with history."  Clarence Darrow

After a month scratching each others backs, the boys and girls in the back room have elected themselves government of New Zealand.  The voting public's opinion was irrelevant.  The self written rules state quite clearly that they have the power to negotiate to their own advantage.  Did you really think they wouldn't come up with a result that suited their agenda? After all, one and one makes two, and two and two equates to whatever they want.  It's called democracy in this part of the world.  But commonsense, which is illegal these days, says it's a rort.  A rort is another name for politicians doing things their way!

Like Germany, New Zealand has an MMP election system.  As far as I can tell, MMP stands
for
Mental Minuscules Prevailing.  The voters get two votes, one for their local Member of
Parliament and another for the political party they wish to elect.  There were a number of
politicians effectively voted out of office, but as they remain on their party list, are still in
government.  This doesn't make a lot of sense but then what political system does?

The current centre left Labour led coalition reelected themselves by giving cabinet posts to
leaders of small parties to gain a one seat majority over the centre right National Party.  Not
that it really matters which side is in power: the "Yes Prime Minister" politicians are always
promoted to jobs on the grounds they know nothing about them and will thus follow their
party line of thinking.  Or is it non thinking?

One of the most controversial appointments, the leader of the NZ First Party, Winston Peters, is now Minister of Foreign Affairs outside cabinet.  He was voted out of office in his
electorate but will now travel the world promoting Foreign Affairs and other forms of
political debauchery.  The world media commented adversely because Mr Peters is well
known for his anti Asian stance.  This has resulted in a huge reduction in Asian students
studying in NZ and the demise of a number of highly profitable educational institutions.  This
election, he suggested that all Muslims were terrorists and should be shot at dawn and then
deported.  Do his beliefs actually make him tailor-made for the Foreign Affairs portfolio?

Mr Peters is Maori and it has been long established that Maori originally came from Taiwan. Thus, he is of Asian descent.  His arms aren't long enough to stab himself in the back but like most politicians he excels at self justification.  His 100% turnaround from his pre election covenants suggests the glory and money of high office is more important than past promises. Naturally he is not alone is seeking office by conveniently hopping from one foot to the other.

It is my opinion that the Labour coalition will not last the distance because standing on tip
toes while dodging political salvoes, leads to loss of equilibrium so essential for stable
government.  Political uncertainty and Labour's arrogant social engineering, will ensure even
more Kiwis leave home for greener pastures.

NZ politicians believe they are big fish in a small pond. But reality they are tiny sprats in a
huge ocean of man eating white pointer sharks. The entire NZ population of four million will
fit into Brazil's San Paulo, four and a half times.  Sprats have little influence in the food chain
of mankind.

Most of the world has no idea NZ exists.
"New Zeeland.  What's that?  Can you eat it?"
