Oh woe is New Zealand. The economy is heading backwards, the national debt is skyrocketing
and yet most amazingly we are getting everything is under control advice
from those who should know better. Perhaps a little poem of mine would be appropriate. The government of the day exists to make things come to pass with history showing up their faults you can shove them up your arse. The government, their spokespersons and the ever increasing number of highly paid advisers are spouting that we need to cut the cost of government to enable the economy to survive. Never mind that unemployment is the highest since the last time unemployment ruled the roost. The public must suffer if NZ is to ride out the international depression. Therefore government departments that supply or serve the needs of the public must save money by depriving the public of the services they allegedly supply. The most recent example is WINZ increasing the restrictions imposed upon beneficiaries. The unemployed, sick, disabled and other professional bludgers must get jobs (but there are none) or suffer accordingly. Be told from on high or get a clip on the financial ear. Big Mummy hath spoken. All government departments allegedly supply benefits to the public. Just ask any civil servant why they are employed and you will be told that they are hired to serve the needs of the public. Sounds like self justification, eh Boy? Yet most departments only supply benefits for politicians and civil servants and none of those have any budget restraints. There's no fear of financial downsizing in the land of tax payer-funded over the rainbow land of plenty. Think about it! What does the Reserve Bank and most other departments actually do that benefits the public? The answer is absolutely nothing. Does the PM really need more than a hundred personal advisers and assistants? What does the Audit Department audit and why don't they inform the public of their results? Why do all departments hide behind xxx xxx dollars an hour private enterprise loud mouthed PR officers? Have you ever seen government employees accept responsibility for their actions? Do you really think the public gets value for money? Surely it sinks in that the sole reason that most government departments exist is to service the egotistical needs of government? Can you comprehend that the army only exists to protect the government from the potential violence of the brain dead people? Personally I'm a little lost. Without government help, how can I possibly work out what to write in my next column. If I were a bureaucrat I would need numerous assistants to lift my typing fingers (both of them) and security guards to protect me from NZ's increasing number of spy agencies. I'll also require somebody to wash my back during my four times a year shower and cooking a meal requires 15 pages of instructions from the Box Ticking Department. Naturally I'm too busy to make my own coffee so there's more jobs for the boys and girls with useless paper qualifications. And yet I get nothing tangible after a lifetime of paying taxes to employ mindless people whose services I don't want and probably never need. Yo for the good times. Yeah Right! |
